As a result of many tragic accidents, the State Senate has passed a bill requiring all lodging establishments and condominiums to be equipped with one or more Carbon Monoxide sensor devices. By July 2007, any boiler room must have a Carbon Monoxide detector supervised by a fire alarm system. By the end of July 2008, EVERY building for which a building permit is issued for any new construction having a fossil-fuel burning heater or appliance, a fireplace or an attached garage must house an approved operational Carbon Monoxide alarm within ten feet of each room used for sleeping purposes.
